Vision:
Freedom from
poverty of Backward Classes people living below double the poverty
line.
Mission
To
provide concessional financial assistance to the eligible members
of Backward Classes for self-employment ventures and skill
development.
1.4 Brief history of the
public authority and context of its formation.
For a
long time necessity was felt that the upliftment of poorer section
of the Backward Classes of the Country should be made. A huge
percentage of total population comes under this category.
Therefore, in absence of their active participation, Country can
not grown as it would be. In this regard, the Govt. of India has
taken initiatives and formed a Corporation with an objective to
promote economic and developmental activities for the benefit of
members of Backward Classes living below double the poverty line
through State Channelising Agencies (SCAs) nominated by respective
State Govt./Union Territories. The Corporation was established not
for profit under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 on 13th
January 1992, named as ‘National Backward Classes Finance &
Development Corporation’ (NBCFDC) under the then Ministry of
Welfare ( now known as Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment),
Govt. of India.
The Corporation provides soft loan to the
poorer section of Backward Classes living below double the poverty
line and to assist in skill development and self employment
ventures. The Company operates within the economic and other
criteria fixed by the Govt. of India from time to time. The
Financial assistance is provided to the members of Backward
Classes, as notified by the Central and State Governments.
1.5 Duties of the public
authority
Duties of the Corporation are as
under:
(i)
To
promote economic and developmental activities for the benefit of
Backward Classes.
(ii)
To assist
in the upgradation of technical and entrepreneurial skills of
Backward Classes for proper and efficient management of production
units.
(iii)
To
enlarge the delivery system through Governmental and
Non-Governmental channels.
(iv)
To
enlarge the scope of the scheme to reach out to the maximum number
of beneficiaries.
(v)
To maximise the utilisation of funds with a view to
reach large number of beneficiaries.
